Welcome to Aurora House
A women's shelter in The Pas for safety, healing, and freedom.
Since 1982, we've supported thousands of women & children on the journey to safety and independence after experiencing violence at home.

In addition to 24/7 crisis response and emergency shelter, we provide mental health support for adults and children, second-stage accommodations, job search help, external service referrals, long-term outreach, and more.

Our work is guided by accessible, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practices – made possible by collaboration, community trust, and a deep commitment to meeting each individual where they are with compassion and dignity.
Mission
To empower & support each person we meet on the journey from crisis to stability – safely, holistically, and on their terms.
Vision
A future where every woman & child has the resources and agency to live in safety, health, and dignity.

Our Why
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a systemic problem with a significant lack of public awareness, education, and accessible resources around it.
Not only is this the case in Manitoba, but disproportionately so...

-
Manitoba consistently has one of the highest provincial rates of femicide in Canada – with a heightened risk among women in rural communities.
-
70% of Manitoban service providers have worked with survivors of IPV – but only six percent felt confident offering adequate support.

Women in rural areas are more likely to remain in dangerous situations due to the lack of resources, affordable housing, and employment opportunities where they live.
No individual person or organization can solve this alone.
But together, our collective actions strengthen families, communities, and the shared future we all deserve.
